Who are we recruiting for?

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Vendor Surveyor on behalf of our esteemed client, a leading authority in the marine industry. Our client is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality in vessel and marine structure surveys.

What will you be doing?

  • Acting as a professional specialist in the application of related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes.
  • Performing routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms, or other marine structures and at manufacturers for classification and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Preparing technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed.
  • Engaging with clients to resolve problems within areas of expertise.
  • Maintaining survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in the area of responsibility.
  • Developing skills necessary for the administration of office procedures and monitoring of business performance at an assigned port.

Are you the ideal candidate?

  • Qualified with a tertiary institution within a relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum two years program), or from a marine or nautical institution with relevant seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer.
  • Possesses a minimum of three years of experience working as a Surveyor I or five years in an Engineering or Survey Capacity within the marine industry.
  • Holds appropriate certification and/or licenses in areas of specialization as required.
  • Strong ability to develop a working knowledge of Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the Employee Safety Policy.
  • Capable of reading engineering plans and possessing a basic understanding of shipbuilding practices and vessel operations.
  • Knowledgeable in computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.
  • Fluent in English, both orally and in writing, with the ability to communicate pertinent information relative to the assigned area of technical expertise.
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze problems and propose effective solutions.
  • Responsive to customers and able to work well with others.
  • Capable of obtaining a working knowledge of the Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Committed to developing a thorough understanding of field operations, policies, methods, and procedures through broader and more technically challenging work assignments.
