Position Summary:

As a Renewable Energy Business Development Leader, you will be responsible for originating and managing C&I and utility-scale Battery Storage/Solar plus Storage project development opportunities. You will oversee the entire project development process, from site control to interconnection and permitting, ensuring that projects reach Notice to Proceed (NTP) status. Reporting to the Regional Head of Europe Project Development, this role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, as well as external stakeholders including developers, authorities, landowners, and grid operators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Origination and Management: Identify and manage opportunities for C&I and utility-scale Battery Storage/Solar plus Storage project development. Oversee site control, interconnection, and permitting processes to ensure projects progress smoothly.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, authorities, landowners, grid operators, off-takers, and advisors, to ensure successful project development.
  • Deal Structuring and Negotiation: Lead the structuring of deals and commercial negotiations for project acquisitions, development service agreements, or joint development agreements. Ensure agreements are beneficial and aligned with company goals.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with supporting functions such as Legal, Technical Solutions, Finance, and Project Delivery teams to ensure all aspects of the project are aligned and executed effectively.
  • Financial Modelling: Coordinate the development of financial models to assess the economics of projects, ensuring they meet financial viability and investment criteria.
  • Site Prospecting and Contracting: Identify and secure suitable greenfield and brownfield sites for project development, ensuring they meet technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Market and Regulatory Insight: Stay informed on market developments, industry policies, and regulations. Quickly identify and act on new business opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: BS degree required; MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Solar/Storage industry, including specific regional regulations and market mechanisms.
  • Track Record: Proven experience in negotiating and closing commercial transactions with stakeholders such as Landlords, Developers, Utilities, Technical Advisors, Regulatory Agencies, and Off-takers.
  • Additional Experience (Preferred): Experience in IPP project acquisition, community solar, national and regional grid analysis, multinational environments, legal aspects, and full-cycle project development.
