Job Title: Senior Surveyor

Who are we recruiting for?

We are recruiting for a distinguished client in the maritime sector who is seeking a qualified and motivated Senior Surveyor to join their vibrant and award-winning team in Hamburg. This role is pivotal for ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance in marine and offshore structures.

What will you be doing?

  • Acting as a professional specialist, applying relevant rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes.
  • Staying informed about new methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities and recommending necessary changes.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating various phases of surveying work while monitoring the quality of service.
  • Engaging with clients to resolve problems within your area of expertise.
  • Preparing technically accurate and timely reports of all inspections and surveys performed.
  • Monitoring work performed by subordinate surveyors to ensure quality, content, consistency, and continuity.
  • Providing supervision, guidance, and training to lower-level surveyors. * Maintaining survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner.

Are you the ideal candidate?

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent in an appropriate technical discipline or a qualification from a suitable marine or nautical institution with relevant seagoing experience as a certified ship officer.
  • Possesses proficiency in the English language and ideally in German.
  • Has a minimum of 8 years experience in an appropriate technical discipline and/or industry.
  • Exhibits knowledge of the sea and its effects on ships and structures, as well as a strong working knowledge of Classification Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read engineering plans, understand shipbuilding practices and vessel operations, and complete various certificate formats.
  • Is familiar with logging procedures, preparing invoices, and has a sound foundation of survey training and practical experience with vessels in service.
  • Displays strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and responsiveness to customers.
  • Is capable of working well with others and has a working knowledge of the Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System.
